The Maldives and Rwanda have signed an agreement on mutual exemption of visa requirements. The agreement allows for the exemption of visas for single or multiple entries, exits, or transit for nationals of both countries for a period of 30 days.
The signing of the visa waiver agreement took place in London. Foreign Affairs Minister Abdulla Shahid represented the Maldives, while Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister Vincent Biruta represented the Government of Rwanda.
During the ceremony, Minister Shahid praised the Rwandan government for its dedication to enhancing the current bilateral relations between the two countries. He expressed hope that the agreement would enhance engagement and foster people-to-people contact between the Maldives and Rwanda. Rwanda’s Foreign Minister reciprocated the gesture and expressed keen interest in reinforcing diplomatic ties with the Maldives.
