The Foreign Ministry has issued a travel advisory in response to the escalating situation in Russia’s Kursk region. As attacks intensify in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, concerns have grown for the safety of Maldivians traveling or residing in the area.

In the advisory, the Foreign Ministry stressed the seriousness of the situation and urged Maldivians currently residing in or planning to visit the Kursk region to exercise extreme caution. With the situation remaining fluid, travellers are advised to stay updated on developments and adhere to safety guidelines.

A significant number of Maldivian students are studying at Russian tertiary education institutions. The Foreign Ministry and the Maldivian Embassy in Germany are closely monitoring the well-being of Maldivians in the Kursk region, according to the statement.

This advisory follows previous warnings issued to Maldivians residing in Ukraine and Russia, stressing the importance of vigilance amid the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
