Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa has concluded his two-day official visit to the Maldives. During the visit, Minister Hayashi engaged in bilateral discussions with his Maldivian counterpart, Abdulla Shahid, and met with Defence Minister Mariya Ahmed Didi.
The visit saw the exchange of notes on the implementation of the Japan’s Project for Human Resource Development Scholarship [JDS] and the exemption of visa requirements for Maldivian diplomatic and official passport holders for a duration of 90 days.
In addition, Minister Hayashi attended a ceremony to hand over a Fireboat and ICT Equipment to the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF).
As part of his visit, Minister Hayashi toured the Kalaafaanu School, a symbol of Japan’s generous aid to the Maldives. He also visited the Seawall Tetrapod Monument, which stands as a token of the strong friendship and collaboration between the Maldives and Japan.
