The seventh edition of the Air Service World Congress (ASWC), which brought together industry leaders, airlines, and airports from around the world, has successfully concluded in the Maldives.

Hosted for the first time in the Maldives by The Maldives Airports Company Ltd. (MACL), ASWC 2024 provided a unique platform for over 150 delegates representing 27 airlines and 17 airports. The conference facilitated exchanges of ideas, collaboration, and innovation within the aviation sector.

During the main event and panel discussions at Kurumba Maldives, MACL shared insights into the inner workings of the Maldives’ aviation sector. MACL also shared with the delegates plans for further development and innovation to position the Maldives as a hub for air services.

The event’s welcome ceremony was held at Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort and Spa, with networking sessions at SAii Lagoon Maldives at CROSSROADS Maldives, which paved the way for fostering connections and strengthening relationships among industry stakeholders.

Since its inception in 2010, ASWC has evolved into a global success story, according to the organisers. Key airline decision-makers engaged in discussions, fostering new routes and business opportunities. The conference showcased Maldivian hospitality and culture and positioned VIA for long-term success, MACL said.

ASWC 2024 received endorsement from the Maldives’ Tourism Ministry, the Transport Ministry, the Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI), and the Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO).
