The Maldives saw a significant drop in exports in November 2024, with the total value of goods exported falling by 44%, according to data from the Maldives Customs Service.

Exports in November amounted to MVR 96 million, a sharp decline from MVR 216 million in the same month the previous year. Processed and frozen skipjack tuna collectively accounted for a significant portion of the country’s exports.

In November, the Maldives exported MVR 41 million worth of processed skipjack tuna and MVR 39 million worth of frozen skipjack tuna. Additionally, frozen yellowfin tuna worth MVR 9 million and fresh yellowfin tuna worth MVR 5 million were exported.

The United Kingdom was the top recipient of Maldivian exports last month, with goods valued at MVR 30 million. Exports to Thailand totalled MVR 24 million, while both Vietnam and Germany received goods worth MVR 13 million each. Mauritius was another key market, with MVR 7 million worth of goods exported.
