The Bill on Fiscal Responsibility and the Bill on State Debt were accepted for legislative consideration by the Parliament on Wednesday and forwarded to the Public Accounts Committee for initial review.

The two bills, with 78 votes, received unanimous approval from the members present and the Committee will study the bills and propose revisions where necessary.

The Fiscal Responsibility Bill was moved by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Thulusdhoo, Ibrahim Naseem while the State Debt Bill was moved by MP for Funadhoo, Mohamed Mamdooh.

The purpose of the Fiscal Responsibility Bill is to ensure fiscal decline through transparent and responsible actions.
