President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has urged the public to learn from the invaluable lessons of Hijra and to reflect on the significance of the journey and its teachings as a means of personal and societal growth. He made the appeal in his message marking the start of the Islamic New Year 1445.

President Solih extended warm greetings and sincere wishes for the Islamic New Year to the Maldivian people, leaders of Islamic nations, and Islamic organisations. He highlighted the historical significance of Hijra, the migration of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Muslims from Makkah to Madinah, as a pivotal moment in Islamic history.

Emphasising the profound impact of the peace achieved in Madinah, President Solih called for contemplation on the lessons of Hijra during the Islamic New Year. He underscored the importance of peace and harmony as the foundation upon which the Maldivian nation should be built, with the aim of leaving a lasting legacy of economic and social prosperity for future generations.

The president further stressed the need for prioritising national interests above all else, calling on the people to unite in their efforts to create a peaceful and prosperous society. Recognising the teachings of Hijra, which fostered a flourishing Muslim community, he urged the nation to embrace unity and solidarity to ensure the country’s progress.
