The Maldives on Sunday welcomed the outcomes of the Arab Six-Party Consultative Meeting held in Cairo, urging all sides to uphold the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and ensure the swift delivery of humanitarian aid.
“The Maldives strongly supports the efforts towards maintaining the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and urges all parties to ensure its full implementation,” the Maldivian government said in a statement.
The government stressed the need for “immediate measures” to facilitate the “smooth and unhindered entry of aid for relief, shelter and recovery” and emphasised the urgency of ensuring humanitarian assistance reaches “all affected areas in Gaza without delay.”
The Maldives also voiced its support for plans to hold an international conference on Gaza’s reconstruction and called on the global community to take “concrete steps” toward a two-state solution based on pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of an independent Palestine.
