The Maldives Bodyboarding Association (MBBA) has approved a budget of MVR 16.2 million for 2024.
At its annual general meeting convened on Saturday, the association also disclosed plans to host five tournaments this year, including four National Bodyboarding League tournaments and the international Maldives Pro 2024 of the IBC Bodyboarding World Tour.
The budget includes provisions for judges’ and instructors’ training and capacity-building. The association also intends to conduct a programme under the banner of Hudhu Fonu.
The first tournament, the Burunu Shikaaru, is scheduled from 5 to 10 May in Malé. The Randha Bodyboarding Challenge will follow from 8 to 14 June in Thulusdhoo Island, Kaafu Atoll.
The Fuvahmulah Bodyboarding Challenge is set for 20 to 28 September in Fuvahmulah City. The Bandufilaa Challenge will be held from 18 to 24 October in Malé.
The Maldives Pro 2024 tournament will receive the largest allocation from the budget. This tournament, the third of its kind, is slated for 1 to 10 August in Malé at the Varunulaa Surf.
The total budget for the year, MVR 16.2 million, reflects the association’s commitment to the growth of bodyboarding in the Maldives.
