Minister of Economic Development and Trade Mohamed Saeed, on his current visit to China to attend the World Economic Forum, met with officials from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce on Tuesday to discuss further strengthening trade and investment between the two countries.

The Minister said that he had a constructive meeting with the Chinese Minister of Commerce Wang Wentao, while also going on to highlight the meeting between Presidents Mohamed Muizzu and Xi Jinping earlier in the year — the Minister’s discussions focused on further expansion of bilateral trade and investments.

Meanwhile, China’s Ambassador to the Maldives, Wang Lixin, said the meeting will facilitate the implementation of the agreement between Presidents Xi and Muizzu.
