A 37-year-old man from Bangladesh appeared at the Criminal Court on Sunday charged with kidnapping of a foreign national.
The court ordered the remand of the suspect Mohammad Arif Hossain, pending trial, stating that he is an illegal alien and a flight risk, and that there is sufficient evidence to keep him in custody until the end of trial.
Others were involved along with Hossain in the alleged kidnapping and the male victim, according to submitted evidence, was physically tortured and threatened, the court said.
Foreigners have previously been charged with similar crimes.
