The Chinese government has donated 12 environmentally friendly ambulances to the Maldives. Ambassador Wang Lixin presented the green ambulances, on behalf of the Chinese Embassy, during an event held at the Health Ministry.

Minister of State for Health Khadeeja Abdul Samad Abdulla accepted the vehicles on behalf of the ministry during the event, which was also attended by First Lady Sajida Mohamed.

The ministry said the ambulances will enhance the provision of emergency medical services to patients across the islands during disasters, emergencies, and accidents.

The green ambulances would especially facilitate the delivery of health care in smaller islands where large paramedic ambulances are difficult to drive, the ministry said.

The ministry thanked China for its assistance in providing the environmentally friendly ambulances to Maldives.
