Malé City Council has decided to conduct an assessment to determine the number of road vehicles to be registered and the duration of use of the vehicles. The council issued an announcement on Thursday seeking a vendor for the assessment.
Interested parties were invited to submit their bids by 1:00 pm on the 18th of this month.
The council has decided to carry out an assessment on vehicles in used within city limits, while Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Mohamed Ameen announced during his visit to Dubai, the intention to seek technical assistance from Dubai to reduce traffic congestion in the city.
During the last five years, a total of 69,780 vehicles were newly registered for service in the Maldives, while more than 42,000 vehicles were registered in Malé, the Transport Ministry said.
