Six foreigners were arrested in Malé for their involvement in prostitution following a series of targeted inspections conducted by Maldives Immigration and the police in August and September, the agencies have revealed. The operation aimed to combat illegal activities involving foreign nationals in the city.

The arrests included five women and one man, who was reportedly acting as an agent. While authorities have not disclosed the nationalities of those arrested, Maldives Immigration has confirmed that three individuals have already been deported and barred from re-entering the country; the remaining three are currently in the process of being deported.

Maldives Immigration, in coordination with other relevant agencies, is conducting extensive operations to track down illegal immigrants and those involved in criminal activities. These efforts come as part of a broader crackdown on unlawful activities across the country.
