The Maldives and Singapore on Monday signed three key memoranda of understanding aimed at enhancing cooperation in capacity building, environmental sustainability, and technical education.

President Mohamed Muizzu and Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong witnessed the signing ceremony held at Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of President Muizzu’s ongoing state visit.

Under the agreements, both countries will work more closely in areas of development, including human resource development, environmental initiatives, and improving access to vocational and higher education. Officials said the memoranda pave the way for deeper institutional collaboration and enhanced knowledge exchange between the two nations.

President Muizzu also met with Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and Prime Minister Wong to discuss further strengthening of bilateral relations.

As part of the visit, the President is scheduled to attend a business forum that will bring together representatives from some of Singapore’s largest companies, with a focus on fostering investment and trade cooperation.

President Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed are in Singapore on a state visit from 29 June to 2 July.
