National carrier Maldivian has added the island of Fulhadhoo in Baa Atoll to its roster of seaplane destinations. Flights from Velana International Airport (VIA) to Fulhadhoo operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
According to Island Aviation Services Limited (IAS), the airline’s owning company, the addition of the new route is aimed at support the growing tourism sector in the atoll.
Scheduled flights to Fulhadhoo will be increased should demand pick up, the carrier said.
Managing Director Ibrahim Iyas said the IAS initiative reflects the company’s vision to further strengthen and encourage growth in the tourism sector with seaplane being an experience unique to visitors to island destinations.

Fehendhoo and Goidhoo, which are located in the same lagoon as Fulhadhoo, are experiencing a boom in guesthouse tourism, due to their place in a singularly beautiful section of Baa atoll.
