The government will remain closed on Monday as vote proceedings still continue for the second round run-off of the presidential elections, the President has decided. Outgoing President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the decision as a large number of government employees and the public participated in the election held yesterday with all of the proceedings regarding the vote still not fully completed, he said.

The government had thus decided to declare Monday a holiday at the request of the Election Commission (EC), the President’s Office said.

The government was closed for two days after the first round of the presidential elections held on 9 September.
