President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Thursday met with Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, who is in the Maldives to attend the inauguration of President-elect Mohamed Muizzu.
During the meeting held at the President’s Office, President Solih and President Wickremesinghe spoke at length about the current situation in Sri Lanka and the nation’s gradual recovery from the recent economic recession. The leaders also discussed the Sri Lankan government’s plans to foster economic expansion.
President Solih further conveyed appreciation to his Sri Lankan counterpart for his collaborative efforts to strengthen relations between the two countries, which involved signing of numerous bilateral agreements during his administration.
President Wickremesinghe also expressed gratitude for the aid and support provided by the Maldives during a time of need. They concluded the call by extending their best wishes and prosperity to the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
The Sri Lankan president is the only head of state attending President-elect Muizzu’s inauguration, scheduled to be held at the Republic Square in Male’ City on Friday afternoon.
