British High Commissioner to the Maldives Nick Low met with senior leaders of the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) on Tuesday, ahead of formal talks between the United Kingdom and the Maldivian government.
Also present at the meeting was Ben Mellor, Director at the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
Representing the PNC were Defence Minister Ghassan Maumoon, Economic Development Minister Mohamed Saeed, Local Government Minister Adam Shareef, and State Minister of Defence Muaz Haleem.
The discussion focused on the PNC’s key priorities as the governing party, according to officials familiar with the meeting.
The UK delegation is also scheduled to engage in an official round of discussions with the Maldivian government, part of the ongoing UK-Maldives Dialogue series aimed at strengthening bilateral relations.
