Israeli airstrikes across Gaza have killed at least 40 people in the past day alone. Since 7 October, Israel has killed at least 38,193 Palestinians, mostly women and children, and wounded 87,903 others in the besieged territory.
In southern Lebanon, Israeli air raids killed more than 700 goats and destroyed a home. Heavy bombardments in Gaza City have led to mass displacements as thousands flee to safer areas.
New Israeli evacuation orders have forced Palestinians to abandon their homes in parts of Gaza City. The forced displacement has seen thousands move from southwest Gaza City to the northwest. Sayeda Abdel-Baki, among the many displaced, reported fleeing for the fifth time due to the strikes.
Israel’s war has also severely affected healthcare services in Gaza. Medics have had to evacuate patients from the al-Ahli Arab Baptist hospital to the Indonesian hospital amidst ongoing Israeli onslaught.
The armed struggle continues with both Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) targeting Israeli military assets. PIJ’s Al-Quds Brigades reported destroying two Israeli military vehicles in Tal al-Hawa, while Hamas’s Qassam Brigades targeted soldiers with Rajum rockets in the Netzarim Corridor. Additionally, the Al-Quds Brigades shelled an Israeli military command center in the same area.
In an Israel-run prison near Ramallah, Palestinian prisoners are suffering from a lack of nutritional food, leading to weight loss and violent incidents when requesting more provisions. The reports come at a time Israel’s extremist National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has issued a directive to reduce food supplies, drawing widespread condemnation.
Meanwhile, truce talks are set to continue in Egypt and Qatar, but internal political dynamics in Israel complicate the situation. Far-right coalition parties have threatened to halt ceasefire negotiations. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu faces criticism for allegedly undermining ceasefire efforts for political survival, leading to a decline in his popularity since the October attack.
