WhatsApp, the globally acclaimed instant messaging app, is gearing up for a significant redesign of its voice call interface, reports WABetaInfo. Despite its immense popularity, the app’s audio call screen has seen minimal changes since the introduction of voice calling nearly a decade ago.
According to the latest findings, WhatsApp, owned by Meta, is in the testing phase of a revamped voice call interface. The purported redesign relocates the mute and end call buttons from the bottom of the screen to the top bar, where users typically monitor the call duration. Notably, these buttons will be visible only when the call screen is minimised.
In the leaked screenshot provided by WABetaInfo, the mute button now resides at the top left corner of the screen, while the end call button is situated at the top right. This shift aims to streamline the user experience by enabling quicker access to essential call functions without requiring users to navigate back to the main call screen.
Although the redesign appears promising, it seems to be undergoing a limited rollout phase. Even for those opting for the latest WhatsApp beta version, the updated design may not be immediately accessible.
This move by WhatsApp underscores its commitment to enhancing user interaction and addressing longstanding interface concerns. By simplifying call controls and optimising accessibility, the messaging giant aims to elevate the overall calling experience for its vast user base.
