Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel concluded his official visit to Saudi Arabia on Sunday, reaffirming the “strong longstanding partnership” between the two nations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Khaleel visited Saudi Arabia at the invitation of Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud. The ministry said the visit highlighted the “deep fraternal ties” between the two countries.

During his trip, Khaleel held discussions with Prince Faisal and senior Saudi officials on strengthening ties and exploring “future areas of collaboration.” Talks focused on boosting economic cooperation, with Khaleel outlining the Maldives’ priorities in tourism, infrastructure and renewable energy to ensure “stability and growth in key sectors.”

Khaleel also met with Maldivians in Riyadh and students in Medina to discuss their well-being, the statement said. He visited the Maldivian Embassy in Riyadh and the consulate in Jeddah, emphasising the need for “close cooperation” to support Maldivians residing in Saudi Arabia and those travelling for Hajj and Umrah, it added.
