The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC), in collaboration with 22 industry partners, is participating in Fitur 2024, a premier tourism trade fair held in Madrid, Spain. The event, which runs from 24 to 28 January, is part of the Maldives’ strategic efforts to strengthen its brand and establish robust connections with travel agents from leading markets in the region.
Fitur 2024, a significant event for tourism professionals and the inbound and outbound markets in Ibero-America, offers a platform for industry partners to showcase their unique products, services, and experiences to a broad audience. The participation aligns with MMPRC’s strategies to strengthen the Maldives brand and establish robust connections with travel agents from leading regional markets, the PR firm said.
The Maldives’ stand at Fitur 2024 reflects the diverse aspects of luxury, romance, adventure, surf, and cultural tourism. The stand showcases the diverse experiences of the Maldives through visuals and videos displayed on LED screens, offering attendees a glimpse into the unique nature of the destination, according to MMPRC.
In 2023, Spain was the ninth-top source market for the Maldives. The Maldives reached pre-pandemic arrival numbers from Spain last year, contributing significantly to its thriving tourism sector. Participation in events such as Fitur 2024 holds immense importance to the Maldives, maintaining momentum from the preceding year, the state-owned company said.
The Maldives has also launched a campaign to increase tourist arrivals from China. The country aims to attract over two million tourists in 2024, a significant increase from the total tourist arrivals of 1,878,537 in 2023.
The Maldives has long become a coveted destination for European tourists, particularly during the winter months when Europe is in the throes of freezing weather and holiday cheer. The country’s strategic participation in events such as Fitur 2024, a magnet for European tourism professionals and travel agents, serves a dual purpose. It fortifies the Maldives’ brand and fosters robust connections with pivotal markets in the region.
