Ibrahim Rasheed, a former magistrate of Thinadhoo Court in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, is being sought by the Maldives Police Service (MPS) in connection with a drug-related case. Police have been ordered to take him into custody and produce him at the Criminal Court, a release on their website said.

Rasheed, who had previously been stripped of his magistrate position due to a drug-related offence, is wanted for failing to appear in court on the charge of dealing diamorphine. He has now been ordered to appear before the Criminal Court at 09:45 a.m., 23 August.

Police have requested to be immediately informed if anyone has information on Rasheed or his whereabouts.

Diamorphine, also known by the more common name heroin, is a highly addictive opioid.
