Maldives Immigration has launched a new online portal, ‘Immigration Watch,’ to streamline immigration-related reporting. The portal allows citizens to report cases related to undocumented migrant workers and other immigration matters.

According to the agency, the platform simplifies the reporting process and is accessible to all members of the public. Users can submit relevant photographs directly to the immigration authority through the portal, which is available 24/7.

Speaking at a press conference, Immigration Controller Mohamed Shamaan Waheed highlighted the general public’s positive reception of the agency’s efforts to curb illegal activities by migrant workers. The information and cases submitted through the portal would remain confidential, he assured.

The ongoing operation by Maldives Immigration and Maldives Police Service (MPS) aims to identify and address violations effectively. As part of the operation, law enforcement authorities have conducted raids on shops and businesses suspected of being owned or operated by undocumented migrant workers. To date, over 2,000 individuals have been deported for violating the country’s laws.
