President Mohamed Muizzu on Sunday renamed the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation Limited (MMPRC) to Visit Maldives Corporation Limited in a move aimed at enhancing the country’s tourism promotion efforts.

The change was formalised through a Presidential Decree issued under Act No. 19/2025, the President’s Office said in a statement.

The company was established to “support the Government’s efforts to expand and diversify the tourism sector,” the statement said. Its mandate includes promoting the Maldives as a “world-class tourist destination” through “focused, continuous, and sustainable marketing initiatives”.

The rebranding comes as the Maldives, renowned for its pristine beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and high-end resorts, looks to scale up its tourism marketing efforts amid growing regional competition and shifting travel trends across the globe.

Tourism remains central to the country’s economy, bringing in the bulk of foreign exchange earnings and supporting the livelihoods of thousands across the atolls.
