National carrier Maldivian has signed an agreement with TrueNoord to lease an Airbus A330-200 aircraft as part of its efforts to expand operations. The A330-200, renowned for its efficiency, range, and passenger comfort, will allow Maldivian to explore new destinations and elevate the travel experience for passengers, the airline said in a statement.

The deal underscores Maldivian’s commitment to growth and innovation, said Ibrahim Iyas, Managing Director of Maldivian. “The A330 will be instrumental in expanding our international network, creating new opportunities for tourism and trade in the region,” he said.

With plans to expand operations to main tourism markets, this strategic move positions Maldivian for increased tourism and trade opportunities in the region.

TrueNoord, a leading global aircraft leasing company, specialises in tailored leasing solutions for airlines worldwide. Their focus on customer satisfaction and operational excellence aligns with Maldivian’s vision for growth and success, according to the airline.

The airline’s acquisition of the wide-body aircraft is part of its plan to commence operations to new destinations and capture tourist traffic. The Airbus A330, with a seating capacity between 210 and 250, is set to play a pivotal role in achieving these goals.
