Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer has concluded his official visit to Sri Lanka from 3 to 6 June 2024. The primary objective of the visit was to bolster bilateral relations between the two countries, according to Maldives’ foreign ministry.

During his visit, Minister Zameer engaged in a series of high-level meetings, including courtesy calls on President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. These meetings served as a platform to review the existing relationship between the two countries and explore potential avenues for further collaboration.

Expressing optimism about the future, Minister Zameer conveyed his strong commitment to enhancing collaboration and strengthening diplomatic ties in the near future. Additionally, the foreign minister held bilateral talks with his Sri Lankan counterpart Ali Sabry, aiming to fortify the already robust relations between the two nations.

Minister Zameer also visited the Maldivian High Commission in Sri Lanka during his trip, where he engaged with the staff. He also interacted with the Maldivian community residing in Sri Lanka, emphasising the importance of people-to-people connections in building lasting relations between the two nations.
