Opposition leader Fayyaz Ismail is touring the southern atolls, seeking public input on the Maldivian Democratic Party’s (MDP) reform initiative. The MDP chairperson’s journey has taken him to Huvadhu Atoll, which encompasses Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu Atolls. There, he aims to engage citizens and gather their perspectives.
The MDP, as the main opposition party, unveiled a reform roadmap during the 10th session of its National Council. Spearheaded by Ismail, this initiative seeks to modernise the party and fortify its administrative framework. By actively involving party members, Ismail hopes to shape the future direction of the MDP.
Before arriving in Huvadhu Atoll, Ismail visited Addu and Fuvahmulah cities and met with party members. These interactions provided valuable insights into their views on the reform roadmap, said Ismail. Speaking to local media, Ismail expressed satisfaction with the productive discussions and the overwhelmingly positive feedback from party members.
As the political landscape evolves, the MDP is drawing upon its 19 years of experience to strengthen its administration while remaining committed to safeguarding and promoting democracy in the Maldives, according to the party.
