Police have successfully rescued three individuals who had been held captive inside a house in the capital Male’ City. Acting on a tip-off, the authorities swiftly intervened to ensure the safe release of the captives.

The hostages, all Maldivian nationals, were rescued from a residence located on Abadhah Ufaa road in the Henveiru Ward of Male’ this afternoon. It has been confirmed that the three men were tortured while being held captive, although the authorities have not commented on the nature and severity of their injuries. Following their rescue, they were taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for medical evaluations.

Authorities have taken into custody a man and a male juvenile, under the age of 18, in connection with the kidnapping. Their specific roles and identities are being withheld pending the ongoing investigation.

Law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the circumstances leading to the hostage situation and the potential motives.
