Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has advised passengers travelling to the Middle East to check with airlines and tour operators before heading to Velana International Airport (VIA), citing temporary airspace closures over several countries in the region.

In a travel advisory issued on Saturday, MACL said the closures could affect flight schedules and urged passengers to closely monitor updates from their respective airlines and tour operators .

MACL strongly encouraged passengers to check the status of their flights through official airline websites or mobile applications before travelling to the airport. Travellers were also asked to contact tour operators for the latest guidance, including rebooking options or schedule changes .

Passengers were further advised to allow additional time for any necessary travel arrangements.

For real-time flight information, MACL directed passengers to the airport’s flight information system at fis.com.mv.

The advisory comes amid heightened regional tension following US and Israeli strikes on Iran, which have led to the temporary closure of airspace in parts of the Middle East, disrupting commercial flight routes and prompting airlines to review schedules.

MACL said it remained fully committed to ensuring uninterrupted and efficient services for all passengers at VIA during the period of disruption.
