The Maldives government has condemned Israel’s missile strikes on the State of Qatar on Tuesday, calling the attacks “cowardly” and a grave violation of international law.

In a statement, the government said Israel’s actions undermine regional security, escalate tensions, and obstruct efforts toward peace and stability in the Middle East. Maldives expressed solidarity with the government and people of Qatar and urged the international community to take urgent and united action to hold Israel accountable under international law and the UN Charter.

The Israeli strikes targeted Hamas leaders in Doha during ceasefire discussions, killing six people including lower-rank Hamas members, a Qatari security officer, and the son of a senior Hamas negotiator. Senior Hamas officials survived.

The attack drew strong international criticism. UN Secretary-General António Guterres denounced it as a violation of Qatar’s sovereignty. The United Kingdom, Germany, and regional powers including Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Iran, Turkey, Egypt, and Pakistan also issued statements condemning the strikes and warning of further instability in the region.
