The Judicial Services Commission (JSC) has temporarily assigned the administration of the Civil Court to Judge Farhad Rasheed.
With 19 years of service to the judicial branch, out of which he has served as a judge for the last 10 years, Judge Rasheed is the longest serving judge at the Civil Court.
The JSC made the decision following the sudden passing of the Chief Judge of the Civil Court Ahmed Nimal Junaid yesterday. Judge Junaid had taken ill while at home and was rushed to Idhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), where he was pronounced dead on arrival. The 36-year-old judge died of a heart attack.
Judge Junaid, who was appointed as a Civil Court Judge in March of this year, was elevated to Chief Judge after the retirement of former Chief Abdulla Ali. He was one of the youngest judges at the judicial branch.
