The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has issued suspension notices for certain operations within government agencies and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) amid the administrative transition, as the ongoing activities have the potential to result in irreversible losses, the commission said in a statement on Wednesday.

Suspension notices have been issued in instances where the ACC is conducting ongoing inquiries, the independent anti-corruption watchdog said.

“… Such practices are prevented because, given the allegations in the cases filed, they are likely to cause irreparable damage to the state and the people if they are not halted” the statement read.

The notices are temporary and do not require the pause of any essential public services or administrative functions, the ACC said, assuring that these cases will be resolved as soon as possible.

The ACC has suspended the allocation of commercial units at the Hulhumalé apartment complex constructed by the Police welfare company, Polco, as well as the sale of land in Hulhumalé through Urbanco.

SOEs and government agencies had previously been cautioned to restrict new activities and expenditures during the transition period.
