Former Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer’s portfolio shift to Finance Minister on Monday came on the heels of then-Minister Mohamed Shafeeq’s resignation, it has been confirmed by the Mohamed Muizzu administration.
While no reason has been given for the resignation, either personally by Shafeeq or the administration, the now-former Minister of Finance resigned on Monday, a statement on the President’s Office website read.
The portfolio of the then-Minister of Health, Abdulla Khaleel, has now changed to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim, Principal Secretary to the President on Public Policy at the President’s Office, taking up the portfolio for Minister of Health.
The cabinet shake-up comes at a time when the challenges faced in terms of the administration’s financial standing are reportedly at precarious levels.
