The Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Fire and Rescue Service says it has extinguished the fire that broke out at a construction site near Tree Top Hospital in Hulhumalé. Authorities say no one was injured in the incident that occurred Thursday morning, and the cause of the fire is not known.

The fire, which started in a waste disposal area at the under-construction SIFCO Hiyaa tower site, was reported at around 11:35 a.m., a spokesperson for the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) told Maldives Republic. The Hulhumalé Fire Station swiftly responded to the emergency call and successfully put out the fire before it could spread beyond the waste disposal area, the MNDF spokesperson said.
