Foreign Minister Abdulla Khaleel began an official visit to Sri Lanka on Tuesday at the invitation of his Sri Lankan counterpart, Vijitha Herath, the Foreign Ministry said.

During his visit, Khaleel will hold talks with Herath on Wednesday and pay courtesy calls on Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, the ministry said in a statement.

He is also scheduled to meet members of the Maldivian community in Sri Lanka and hold an interactive dialogue with representatives from the business community of Sri Lanka, according to the statement.

Khaleel is accompanied by Foreign Secretary Fathimath Inaya and Additional Secretary Aminath Abdulla Didi.
