The Mohamed Muizzu administration will develop 15 additional domestic airports across the Maldives, it has been revealed at the Invest Maldives Forum in Fuzhou, China.
The additional domestic airports will nearly double the current number of domestic facilities bringing the total to 31 airports — there are currently 16 designated domestic airports.
The administration’s announcement is being showcased at the Invest Maldives Forum; an event which seeks investors for development projects and partnerships across the Maldives.
President Muizzu had earlier confirmed, during the forum’s inauguration on Tuesday, that Maldives would seek funding from China to develop its main international travel hub, Velana International Airport (VIA), with a view to draw 25 million visitors.
