President Mohamed Muizzu will seek to introduce a bill to Parliament to ensure housing for the marginalised and neglected under government housing schemes.

Speaking at the inauguration of the ‘Israhvehinge Naadhee’ — a centre for senior citizens — on Saturday, President Muizzu said his administration would introduce a bill ensuring housing to those within the nation who have been marginalised due to different circumstances.

“Special attention will be given to our beloved citizens; this administration will establish various housing projects and this attention will greatly expand the opportunities [for social housing],” he said.

“When determining various conditions and categories in housing projects, all these stakeholders should be given due attention. We will also introduce a specific bill for this purpose and send it to parliament. It will define various categories of housing,” he said.

The bill will be designed with due attention to all marginalised groups in society, he said.
