The first section to be reclaimed under the development of Hulhumalé Phase III will be completed by Friday, Urbanco said. Land reclamation for Phase III began on 22 September.

While phase III is divided into three sections, Urbanco said 70 percent of the site designated ‘Site A’ had been reclaimed and when complete would yield a total of 10 hectares.

In an effort to pre-empt delays the company faced at Site A, Urbanco has already requested that vessels moored at the Site B area be moved as soon as possible.

Phase III will see a total of 63 hectares of land added to Hulhumalé which the Ibrahim Mohamed Solih administration has committed to reclaim before the end of its current term on 17 November.
