The Maldives Airport Company Ltd. (MACL) has initiated a new batch of the Basic Firefighter Course in its efforts to enhance aviation safety. This comprehensive training programme equips firefighters with essential skills to handle emergencies effectively and efficiently, according to MACL.

In a statement, MACL highlighted the importance of this introductory aerodrome firefighter course. The 43-day course, approved by the Maldives Civil Aviation Authority, prepares a group of 12 firefighter trainees to tackle both aircraft and structural fire incidents at Velana International Airport (VIA) and its surrounding areas.

The recent inauguration of a state-of-the-art fire station at VIA further reinforces MACL’s commitment to emergency preparedness. Equipped with cutting-edge technologies, the new facility enhances the company’s capacity for rapid response. With two strategically positioned fire stations now operational, MACL said it strives to further enhance prompt and effective emergency handling capabilities.
