Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer, during his visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), met with the Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, on Thursday to discuss financial assistance proposals forwarded by the Maldives.
During the discussions, Zameer sought to build on the close relationship between the two nations, highlighting the continuing progress in terms of development that the Maldives has achieved due to the UAE’s contributions.
The ADFD already supports major development projects in the Maldives, including the development of the new international terminal at the Velana International Airport (VIA).
The fund has also financed the Maafaru International Airport project and, according to Zameer, the collaboration between the Maldives and the ADFD on the project seeks to open further doors for investments.
