Minister of Homeland Security and Technology, Ali Ihusaan, has met with China’s Minister of Public Security, Wang Xiaohong, to discuss strengthening bilateral relations as well as cooperation in capacity building for the Maldives’ police.
Ihusaan, currently on an official visit to China at Wang invitation, will also participate in the Global Security Initiative.
The main discussion point of the meeting between the Ministers, in addition to bilateral cooperation, was the implementation of China’s Global Security Initiative, Maldives’ Homeland Security tzar told local media on Tuesday.
The third forum of the Global Security Initiative, taking place from 8 — 10 September, will see more than 2,100 officials across various security agencies and ministries from 122 countries coming together.
While no additional details on the visit have officially been released, Ihusaan, who left for China on 6 September, is expected to return to the Maldives on 11 September.
