Security forces have arrested several individuals in an ongoing special operation in the capital Malé and Hulhumalé.
The operation, which began on Monday night, has seen a significant presence of soldiers and police searching various locations. According to media reports, three men have been taken into custody—two from Malé and one from Hulhumalé Phase II.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the arrests, and it remains unclear why the individuals were detained. However, the Maldives Police Service has confirmed that the operation is linked to national security concerns.
Following the arrests, security forces searched multiple locations, including several vehicles in Malé and an apartment at Vinares Flats in Hulhumalé Phase II. Officers were seen carrying evidence bags from the premises, though details of what was seized have not been disclosed.
The police and the Maldives National Defence Force have not provided further information on the operation.
