A woman has been sentenced to three days in jail after leaving a Family Court hearing without the judge’s permission, an act deemed a violation of the trial process and contempt of court.

According to the court’s judgment, the woman exited the courtroom despite being instructed that she was not allowed to leave without explicit approval from the judge. She reportedly left the court reception area, entered the legal officer’s room, and proceeded to the court lobby.

The Family Court described her actions as a serious disruption of the proceedings. Instances of such behaviour are rare in the Family Court, where compliance with courtroom protocol is expected to ensure the proper conduct of hearings.
