In a thrilling match at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Saturday, India emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over Nepal, securing their place in the semi-finals of the ongoing SAFF Bangladesh Championship. The Indian team showcased a mix of ups and downs throughout the game but ultimately found their rhythm to claim a well-deserved victory.

During the first half, India struggled with errors and failed to pose significant challenges to the Nepalese goalkeeper for the majority of the initial 60 minutes. However, the tide turned in their favour after veteran striker Sunil Chhetri netted the opening goal. This breakthrough ignited the Indian team, and they managed to hold on to their lead, ultimately clinching a straightforward win. Adding to India’s success, Naorem Mahesh Singh scored a goal to solidify their victory over Nepal.

Meanwhile, Kuwait displayed dominance as they defeated Pakistan 4-0, securing their place in the semi-finals. Kuwait wasted no time taking control of the game, scoring two early goals. In the 10th minute, Hasan Al-Enezi capitalised on a clearance by Pakistan defenders and found the back of the net from the far post. Seven minutes later, Mobarak Al-Faneeni extended Kuwait’s lead with a goal assisted by Eid al-Rasheedi.

Kuwait’s third goal came in extra time when they took advantage of a defensive mistake by Pakistan. Al Rashedi intercepted the ball from a defender and launched it towards goal, the shot was saved by the Indian keeper, however the rebound was chipped in by Mobarak Al-Faneeni . Despite a disallowed goal due to an offside call early in the second half, Al-Rasheedi made amends by scoring the fourth goal in the 69th minute, sealing Kuwait’s convincing victory.

With their triumphs in the group stage, both India and Kuwait have secured their places in the semi-finals of the SAFF Bangladesh Championship.
