Hulhumale’ has introduced its first-ever smart parking zone, offering 23 parking spaces for bidding. The smart parking zone, located near the ferry terminal area, aims to streamline parking facilities in the city.

Urbanco, the organisation responsible for the project, announced that interested individuals can participate in the bidding process until June 7. The bid opens on the same day. The starting bid for these parking spaces is set at MVR 1,500 per month, with a lease duration of three years.

To determine the winners, Urbanco will employ a point system. The highest bidders will be awarded 80 points, while residents of Fithiroanu Road, where the parking zone is situated, will receive 20 points. Notably, these parking spaces are exclusively available to local residents who do not currently hold a parking lease in Hulhumale’.

Successful bidders will be subject to certain regulations. Subleasing of parking spaces will be strictly prohibited. Only registered vehicles will be permitted to park. Any request to park a vehicle registered under another person’s name will require prior permission. Urbanco clarified that vehicle registration permits or garage letters will not be issued for the allocated spaces.

The smart parking zone will cater to various parking needs. It includes short-term and long-term parking options, as well as dedicated spaces for people with disabilities. Additionally, Urbanco has developed a parking application for those seeking short-term parking solutions.

In line with their vision, Urbanco has expressed intentions to construct additional smart parking zones in other locations across Hulhumale’.
