The Football Association of Maldives (FAM) will hold an extraordinary congress in March, Acting General Secretary Mohamed Shujau said, as the association moves ahead under a FIFA-appointed normalisation committee.
The congress, provisionally scheduled for next month, awaits FIFA’s approval before a final date is confirmed, Shujau told the media.
Key items on the agenda include approving FAM’s budget, electing members to the Action Committee and the Appeals Committee, and appointing an official audit firm to review the association’s accounts.
This will be the first official congress held under the normalisation committee, which FIFA installed to manage FAM’s affairs. The congress will be chaired by Ahmed Muizzu, the committee’s newly appointed chairman and a former prosecutor general.
Muizzu replaced former sports minister Ahmed Zuhoor, who was dismissed as chairman. The normalisation committee, initially comprising four members, now has three following the resignation of legal and finance expert Ahmed Ali.
