A fire engulfed a rented house in Hithadhoo, Addu City late last night, leaving a woman and three children with varying injuries. The victims, who were asleep at the time of the incident, have since been admitted to a local hospital, where they are currently recovering, according to Addu City council officials.

The fire, which reportedly originated within the house, caused significant damage, leaving the residence in ruins, said the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). NDMA is actively collaborating with the Addu City Council to extend assistance to the affected individuals.

Following the devastating blaze, the family has been provided with temporary shelter to ensure their immediate needs are met, stated the city council.

Photographs shared on social media platforms portrayed the charred remnants of furniture and personal belongings within the two-bedroom house. The fire also caused substantial damage to the doors and burned through the ceiling. Authorities are actively investigating the cause of the fire and have yet to determine the exact origin and circumstances surrounding the incident.
