A 30-year-old man who suffered severe injuries in an accident in Fuvahmulah City on Saturday night has died in hospital. The accident occurred when the man lost control of his motorcycle, driven at high speed, and crashed into a wall on Bodufannu Road on Saturday, according to police. The incident was reported to the Fuvahmulah Police Station at 10:15 p.m.

The motorcyclist was initially taken to Fuvahmulah Hospital, but due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Malé for further treatment. The injured remained on ventilator support until his death at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, according to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).

The authorities are investigating the accident.

Fuvahmulah City, the third-largest population centre in the Maldives with a population of 12,790, has witnessed several tragic accidents in the past.
